The Federal Register documents titled "Adjusting Imports of Aluminum Into the United States" and "Adjusting Imports of Steel Into the United States" discuss changes to the tariffs on aluminum and steel imports. Starting from March 12, 2025, the tariff on aluminum and steel imports will increase to 25% for all countries. Additionally, aluminum products from Russia will face a 200% tariff if any part of the aluminum used in their production is sourced from Russia. The document also mentions that all steel imported from Turkey will be subject to a 50 percent ad valorem rate of duty.
Â
CBP shall prioritize reviews of the classification of imported steel and aluminum articles and their derivative articles and, in the event that it discovers misclassification resulting in non-payment of the ad valorem duties proclaimed herein, it shall assess monetary penalties in the maximum amount permitted by law and shall not consider any evidence of mitigating factors in its determination.
